Come and attend an Open House
this fall.
Beginning Tuesday, October 23, we will hold an Open House every
Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Children are welcome
but we will have a discussion session which lasts approximately 45
minutes followed by a tour of the school. Please reserve a space
for one of these Open Houses by calling Carey Koppenhaver at
302-378-3179 ext. 311.
In addition to the Tuesday morning
Open Houses we will also hold one the evening of Thursday
November 8, 2007, from
5-8 p.m. Please call to reserve your space for this event.
Enrollment
The target enrollment for the school is 350 students in pre-kindergarten
through eighth grade. There will be two sections at each grade level
with approximately eighteen students per class. The pre-kindergarten
class size is two sections with twelve students
per class. The overall student-teacher ratio, including
teaching specialists, is approximately 6:1.
The Admissions Process
An application, interview, and age-appropriate evaluation are parts of the admission process.
We
will accept
applications for all grades (Pre-Kindergarten( 4-year-olds by August
31st of the enrollment year) through 8th
graders) for the first round of applicants from September 1-January
1. After that deadline, applications are accepted only where space
is available. We follow the state’s age requirements for our
Pre-Kindergarten program: applicants must be turning 4 before August
31st of the enrollment year to be applicable.
The application process begins when parents call the school to
request information and schedule a visit. School tours are held most
Wednesday mornings. These tours are for small groups from 2 to 10
people and reservations are suggested. You will tour
the school with the Admissions Director, Carey Koppenhaver, and
visit classes, meet teachers and administrators and talk with
students. Reservations for the evening open
houses are not required.
Once you have visited the school and/or requested an application
packet, families can turn in the application and application fee of
$50.00. Then, around December 1st, families should give
the Recommendation Form(s) and Record Release Forms to the school
via the applicant’s homeroom teacher. The teacher and school should
return the records and recommendation forms directly to the school
before December 25th. In January, Pre-Kindergarten and
Kindergarten applicants are invited to playdates for assessment;
they are scheduled by the St. Anne's Admission staff for Saturday
mornings throughout the winter. Parents of 1st through 8th
grade applicants should call the school themselves in early January
to schedule their child’s full-day visit. Students who come for a
full
day should wear clothes close to the dress code and sneakers,
and should come prepared to take a few assessments (reading
comprehension, creative writing and math) as well as prepared to
take part in class activities.
In early March, all admission decisions are mailed to families.
