Welcome to the St. Anne’s Episcopal School Website!
Since I arrived at this wonderful school in the summer of 2008, I have felt the warmth, connectedness, and sense of purpose that make this place so special. As Head of School I am proud of the talented and dedicated group of educators who believe wholeheartedly in the mission of St. Anne’s, and I am delighted to be able to work with the many eager young learners that make up our Pre K – grade 8 school. Our core tenets of respect, responsibility, and compassion are at the heart of both the philosophy and the practice at our school.
You can see it every day. From engaging classrooms, to morning devotions and weekly chapel, to the community service program, to the monthly cross grade level “connections” program that pairs our older with our younger students, our children learn to look beyond themselves and to consider the viewpoints and feelings of others. Through our academic, athletic, and artistic experiences our students learn to take responsibility and work together, to take risks, to explore new approaches, and to strive for their best even when the challenge seems daunting. Whether it is in their interactions with faculty, with peers, with opponents, or with our special guests that come on campus, our students discover how important it is to show respect to all whom they meet. For children who are growing up in a global community, we encourage and embrace the strength that comes from our diversity. We want all children to feel valued, and to assure that our community reflects a breadth of diversity.
After you click your way through this virtual snapshot of life at St. Anne’s, I hope you will choose to explore further in person what it is that makes our school such a great place for children. To the left of our red front doors there is a sign that reads, “May all who enter these doors grow in wisdom and love.” It is a simple but profound statement that really tells the story of our learning community. I invite you to come see for yourself, to enter through those red doors, to sense the spirit and substance that make this such a magical place.
Sincerely,
Peter C. Thayer
Head of School
