Full day and overnight field trips will be here before you know it!
Students going on overnight or all day field trips occasionally need an over-the-counter medication during their trip. In accordance with Delaware state regulations our field trip guidelines are as follows:
- Non-Prescription Meds - Require a doctor (or other licensed healthcare provider) note stating the name of the student, medication, dosage, frequency, and how it is to be administered. Examples include vitamins, allergy, headache, and fever-reducing medications.
- Prescription Meds - (same as during school) Must be in the original prescription container labeled with students name, dosage, and administration instructions. Please send in only the amount needed for the field trip.
ALL medications, including Epi-pens and inhalers, must be listed on the field trip permission slip.
If you plan to have your student self-carry a rescue inhaler it must be listed on the permission slip and they must agree to tell the teacher if it has been used. The time will be recorded on the medication log the teacher is keeping during the trip. Please review this with your student for their safety.
If your child has an appointment for any reason it would be a good time to ask your doctor for any notes you may need. Notes are kept on file and are valid for the entire school year.
