Today we begin our five week Heart, Mind & Spirit Fund campaign which helps to support faculty professional development and our teachers' transformative work with students. By making a pledge or gift, you can honor our teachers and celebrate our students as they continue to grow and learn together.
Back in 2002 our founders understood that outstanding schools are built around outstanding teachers who set high expectations for themselves and for their students. They also understood that great teachers are themselves lifelong learners who are always seeking new ways to enhance their craft to engage young learners.
For our October 9th in-service, our faculty either attended an all day digital learning conference sponsored by ADVIS (the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools) or they visited various campuses in four states, totaling 19 different schools (11 independent, 5 public, and 3 charter) to see what new approaches are being used effectively at other schools. It was a great day of professional growth that I am sure will inform our work at St. Anne’s both in the present and the future. As one teacher wrote in a follow-up survey to the day, “Gaining insights, ideas, and professional development resources is always extremely helpful.”
It is vital that as educators we continue to model for our students what it means to be a lifelong learner, to help them to embrace a growth mindset. As one of our young alums said at an Open House last week, “The teachers at St. Anne’s gave me the confidence to take risks, to try new things, and to realize that I can do whatever I put my mind to.”
With your help, we can continue to model a growth mindset for our students.
On behalf of our entire St. Anne’s community, I thank you for your support.
