Second Grade traveled to Cape Henlopen to learn about true crabs and horseshoe crabs. We did a scavenger hunt on the beach for various items (univalve, bivalve, whelk egg case, mermaid's purse, seaweed, feather, garbage-to clean up!), climbed the steps of the WWII Observation Tower for a great view, hiked through Fort Miles, and ended with the view near the Great Sand Dune and a moment of silence to enjoy the beauty of nature.
"What a wonderful field trip! I learned a lot and I know the children did as well! It was well organized, very engaging, and just perfect! I especially loved the way that the two teachers chose to wrap it up, by asking for a minute of silence. How awesome!"
