During October, the 4th grade had many opportunities to build "emergency shelters" in class as an extension of our learning how to plan, design, and build. Mrs. Wilson studied natural disasters with the class and we practiced building shelters in the woods near the outdoor chapel using natural surroundings. This type of shelter needs to withstand the elements. These photos and videos were taken on our first day. We monitored the structures and noted their durability. The class developed an understanding of the difference between building in a controlled environment vs. the variability of the outdoors.
