At St. Anne's we begin our day together with daily devotions in the classroom. This is a time for prayer and quiet and centering ourselves for the work of the day. Sometimes that also includes reaching outside of ourselves to others in need. When Mr. Hester learned about Jacob, he invited the whole school to join with his advisory in making cards with this message:
"Hi Friends [SAES Faculty],
I was reading a news article this evening and it really touched my heart and I have a hunch that it will touch your heart as well.
“We want him to know that Christmas wishes come true,” his mother said, “and that there are good people who care all around the world.”
If you ever wondered whether our students fully understood the importance of compassion and what it means to care for someone else, look no further than some of the samples I have attached below
PE Teacher and 6th Grade Advisor"
As a result of his invitation, we had many advisory and homeroom groups who used their devotions time to create Christmas cards for Jacob that were sent off by the end of the week. It was a lovely example of how this community likes to reach out to others and how our students are learning that they are part of something much bigger than themselves.
