We are happy to share news of Slam Dunkley, St. Anne's Class of 2012! After graduating from St. Anne's, Slam attended Church Farm School; he is now a sophomore at Saint Joseph's University where he is majoring in philosophy with a minor in environmental studies.
Slam was tall at St. Anne's, so it is hardly surprising that after running cross country here and in high school, he discovered a passion for rowing. Nor is it surprising that he is very good at it - second on his team! Slam rows in the heavyweight varsity 8-man boat.
As the lone freshman in the varsity boat last spring, Slam helped Saint Joseph's University bring home the silver medal in his event from nationals - the Dad Vail Regatta. This regatta attracts hundreds of colleges and universities from the U.S. and Canada and this was SJU's first Dad Vail medal in that event since 1999.
More recently, as a sophomore, Slam helped the Varsity 8 boat secure a second-place finish at the Head of the Charles Regatta last month. They were just edged out by Virginia, and finished 8 seconds ahead of the next fastest boat.
Way to go Slam!
